How do I motivate my team?

How do I motivate my team?

April 29, 20232 min read

When we understand, what motivates individual team members in our network marketing organisation then we can create massive results.

There are only two things that motivate people in life. Pain or Pleasure!

Before you use pain or pleasure to motivate your team; we want to make it really clear that RAPPORT with your team members is the key to using these strategies, understanding individual team members and getting to know them so that they like trust and know you as well.

Pain

People who are motivated by pain are usually what we call away people. Moving away from something that causes them pain is how they are motivated.

Pleasure

People who are motivated by pleasure are usually what we call towards people. Moving towards what they do want rather then moving away from what they don’t want.

How to use pain and pleasure when motivating your team.

When a person is motivated by pain, it can sometimes be pointless to attempt to motivate them on the big picture that is possible with Network Marketing.

An example would be trying to motivate someone on being financially independent and the life they will have. This is a pleasure hot button or motivator.

A better way would be creating the pain of what having no money or time freedom will do for them and how painful their lives would be.

Even though this may seem against the positive spin that most network marketers or people in personal development would encourage, if that’s the internal program of your team member than that’s what they use.

How to use pleasure

People who are motivated by pleasure want to know how good is it going to make them feel and what is the benefit. For this individual you would always sell the vision, the big picture and how great it is.

In a group setting

Always use both and try not to just lead by what motivates you either pain or pleasure. Create the pain and then the pleasure, by using stories, metaphors and testimonials to someone who had or was in a pain situation before network marketing and then created a pleasure situation in network marketing.

Sustaining Motivation

To sustain motivation and growth its important that a person make an internal switch from being motivated by pain to be motivated by pleasure, why? If we don’t switch then we always have to unconsciously create pain in our lives to be motivated and this is where self-sabotage sets in.
