Meditation for Balance

It is a challenge finding equilibrium in our daily living, relationships and responsibilities.  It is important to make adjustment and changes to remain and stay in control for a healthy work and life balance.

What matters more to you? Is it your relationship with God, family, friends, career, leisure time, sports, volunteer work or hobbies? Because we all have different priorities, goals and values, there is no one common solution to achieving a balanced life. You will need to know what you value more and prioritise to reflect your core values.

Setting priorities and managing time, helps in attaining balance.  Learning to say no and not feeling guilty to avoid being overloaded with commitment. Multitasking helps in accomplishing a lot to have extra time.  Create time for fun and hobbies that should not always be about work.  Evaluate how you can make changes to create balance in your life.

The word “balance” has always a positive connotation to it. Nature is always balanced. We can learn from nature how to remain balanced. A balanced state helps you to avoid anxiety, frustration, stress and many other problems. Being balanced physically, mentally and emotionally also leads to spiritual balance automatically. Though it is difficult, it is very much possible with a little effort.

Balance is freedom from all points of self-reference; it is indifference only to the demands of the ego-self with its craving for pleasure and position, not to the well-being of one’s fellow human beings. This balance is not indifference, but active mindfulness. Because it is rooted in insight of spirit it is not unbalanced by the passions of attraction and aversion and is free of the extremes of joy or sorrow.

Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance”- Brian Tracy

Meditation is balancing your body and mind properly. This balancing automatically brings balancing of your emotions which helps in controlling your anxiety, anger, fear, phobias etc. It improves your patience.

Patience is a wonderful measure against indiscretion, but it is also a means of encouragement. In Buddhist culture the word “equanimity” occurs frequently. Meditation is a steady and continuous yet gentle process. When you start practicing it and immediately expect the results, you may get disappointed and may stop the practice. But patience takes you slowly and gradually to the long way whatever you do.

You can improve your patience by several methods. Some tips are here:

  1. Try to keep noble silence for at least ten minutes every day.

  2. Try to reduce your time of watching TV.

  3. Try to sit with straight spine (There should not be any tension in Your neck) sit for at least ten minutes with closed eyes.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven …..” Ecclesiastes.
